Our history
The railway history of the Maardu area is closely tied to the development of Estonia’s phosphate industry. The predecessor of today’s Maardu Raudtee was the railway workshop of Eesti Fosforiit, which served the region’s industry and its railway network. 1996. In 1996, Maardu Raudtee AS was founded on the basis of the former railway workshop of Eesti Fosforiit. Since 2002, Maardu Raudtee AS has been part of the Intopex group.

A new stage — independent freight transport
2025. In 2025, Maardu Raudtee AS began independently carrying out rail freight operations on the railway infrastructure of AS Eesti Raudtee. This expanded the company’s activities from local railway services to offering more comprehensive rail freight solutions. Today we arrange, among other things, petroleum product and container shipments, and we are developing new intermodal transport solutions.
Our own railway network
Maardu Raudtee AS owns approximately 14 km of railway, running from Maardu station to the territory of the former chemical plant. Through this network, we serve the region’s terminals, warehouses, and industrial enterprises.
